Scene Study - Tennessee Williams Focus
Service Description
This class for actors dives into an analysis of the work of Tennessee Williams through scene study. Tennessee Williams’ Plays provide great, complex characters with extensive, emotional layers, allowing actors to practice nuanced acting techniques, explore difficult themes and develop a strong understanding of character motivation making it a valuable training ground for actors of all levels. For 6 weeks, we will explore the circumstances, and create these characters and find a way to relate to them. We will start with a breakdown of scripts, we’ll explore story events, context, character, intention and motivation. Chosen scenes will be workshopped, then presented to the group during the final class. The focus of this class is to discover and nurture a creative self as a generative artist. Through exercises and prompts, you are urged to discover many means of expression and use the world around you, as well as your own experiences, as inspiration. as your own experiences, as inspiration. Students will have the option to perform the scene at the Theatre Arts Lab Winter Showcase.
